Gi & No Gi Grappling

1. Warm up exercises 15 Minutes
Warm up exercises are important to get the blood flowing and decrease the risk of injury. These simple exercises were developed by a strength and conditioning coach at Athlete’s edge in Acton and is a slow progressive warm up from Head to Toe.

2. Drilling techniques 15 Minutes
Students are paired up and begin to drill previously learned techniques. Students are still in warm up mode and the focus in on increasing skill and accuracy before speed. Both take down and ground techniques are drilled.

3. New techniques 15 Minutes
Each class new techniques are presented. Techniques are also compounded depending on the skill level of the students. For instance, if we are working on sweeps from the guard, then variations of the sweep will be presented to accommodate a beginner and an intermediate student.

4. Grappling 30 Minutes
All students will have the opportunity to grapple. This is an important part in the development and execution of Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques. The environment for free grappling is controlled for each student. We expect that every student will respect their partner and focus on proper jiu-jitsu technique. We do not tolerate grappling with excessive use of strength that poses a risk to a person getting injured. If a student makes an attempt at a submission, it is expected that the student will use the technique with control!

5. Warm-down 10 Minutes
The warm down consists of Yoga movements. The body must be properly cooled and stretched to prevent injury and possible soreness and inflammation. It is our philosophy that you must take care of your body through a proper method of training.
